Mert YAYGEL got his BSc degree from the Faculty of Architecture of İzmir Dokuz Eylül University in 1994.

He received his MSc degree in the field of Urban Systems and Transport Management yet again from Bahçeşehir University in 2014. He has been working at İzmir Metropolitan Municipality since 2005. He is the Head of Transportation Department since 2018.

As for his core responsibilities, he manages the Transportation Master Plan of İzmir as well as directing the planning and implementation processes of transportation investments in İzmir. Also for managing traffic, he controls the fully adapted traffic management system, smart city system of Ìzmir.

Recently, he primarily leads the Logistics Master Plan, Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan and Parking Areas Master Plan of İzmir within the context of smart and sustainable city goals.
